Good to see this story finally get a completed English translation. Seeing how goofy and silly this whole thing is, it's a shame Bastien ended up getting into so much trouble for it. Especially since this sorta of farcical hyper lewd nonsense was once a cornerstone of the French comic underground. Here's hoping the prudes trying to bring our boy down don't get far and we'll see more of sweet Petit Paul and Magalie one of these days.
@LouLouChu Keep in mind I don't understand French and as such this is gathered from secondary sources & machine translations: Bastien Vivès is/was a very respected person in the french comic scene, having done a bunch of stuff including non-sexual works (e.g. Lastman, which was even adapted into an animated series), with his sexual works sometimes also touching upon more sensitive topics beyond sex. The reason why @DUSTLloyd mentions trouble is that he is somewhat of an edgy person that let's his inner 13-year-old boy out and pisses off the wrong people.
In 2021 he was to be honored with a solo exhibition at the most important european comics festival in Angoulême, but that got cancelled as some feminists complained that some of his works promote pedophilia, rape culture, etc. and Bastien got physical threats over this. The comics that got him into the most shit however were Petite Paul and Les Melons De La Colère/Melons of Wrath ( /g/1314939/22cfda8e4c/ ) as both feature Paul and french law does not distinguish shota & loli from real cp if the character depicted is under the age of consent and the work is deemed to not have some artistic value. A child protection group reported that to the police and as such a court case was opened, that is still ongoing afaik.
The starting point for the conflict between him and feminists was probably him calling the feminist web comic author Emma an "idiotic mongoloid" for her comic about mental load in 2017 and making an all-caps comment saying that he hopes that her son "stabs her, she makes a comic out of it and gets fucked in the ass for every like", as the other comments in the replies seem joking there may have been another comment making fun of Emma being at her "mental load" limit and as such being unable to care for her son, as I cannot otherwise understand Vivès drawing that connection in a joking way, without having a completely unhinged moment, though he does seem genuinely somewhat angry in those postings. He has since apologized for these.
After the cancelling of the exhibition some feminists also dug through some old forum posts of his from 2005, he was 20 at the time, where he admitted that he sometimes had experienced an attraction to 10- to 12-year-old girls, but would never do anything. The typos made in those posts supposedly make it seem like he was drunk while making them.
Also, in an interview in 2017 he declared his love of incest and when questioned about it said that he already made a boy (Paul) fuck his sister in his comics and said that if he was into it, he would not even stop at drawing a boy getting fucked by a rabbit.
All in all, he is a certainly a colorful character to say the least.
