Idk about loss of details but the upscaling exaggerated already present patterns (the thing clearly thought they were details), they look very scary now and they will likely be a nightmare to clean, especially with so many pages. Upscaling haltones is risky for this reason.
I'm not sure if this is reversible (to original raws) as some translating softwares allow to swap raws no problems, if possible i hope this happens.
That poor car at page 4 got grinded and now that i notice i see some halos appearing too, which is something, given the protection halftones normally give

Thanks for bringing this up.
The raw had downscaled 1100x1500 pages, I can't find better raws with the same translucent censor same these has.
Normally I would upscale x2 in PS, to make editing a lot easier, then export at downscale that's closer but larger in image size compared to the raws.
This method works well in my previous translations, eg. Mori Manpei, everything looks sharper, more defined and it's easier to edit. But this project though... It looks blurry even when I upscaled it, things looks bigger but not sharper. I didn't downscale the pages on export because I was busy.
Anyway maybe I'll downscale on export or change the resampling settings I guess.

I appreciate the response. Honestly, most people will probably not notice or care. For me however, it took 1 glance at an image for me to check the res to see if upscaled.

I appreciate the TL anyhow. I'd prefer it on the native 1057 x 1500 /g/2521393/d82b84728e/ but since you already did the work no point as it's just more work. (Also the other TL chapters are in 1057 x 1500 so the consistent res would have been nice)

EDIT: Also, i just want to say the upscale isn't terrible TBH, i've seen a lot worse. i am just nitpicking i think lol.

In my opinion PS does not have the correct samplers to work with manga, so i never use it to upscale or downscale
I'm not sure what kind of editing you do but changing the size when halftones are present is the usual cause for patterns togheter with samplers that cause artifacts.
The original raws had these patterns meaning they were resized already, so if you want a sharper image maybe use a sharpener that has edge detection to not affect the halftones (the one in camera raw should work fine), if you instead want to reconstruct lines that got shaded out, different tools are needed...

I recently read that based on some survey results, people believe 15 to be the average, instead studies finds it to be 13. Which is more realistic than what media tend to show as an average of 15-16 would mean that 17 was pretty normal and 20+ not even rare.
