The "ai dislike" is usually because the prompt writer is taking advantage of all the "effort" the original artists put into their work and making money off it without giving anything back and additionally taking away some of the market that would have otherwise gone to the original artists. I agree the ai-gen comics require more effort (and are nicer imo) than a 2000 image gallery of poorly curated nightmare fuel, it's still less effort than non-ai artists have to put into their comics and is essentially stealing their work and money they'd make by selling it to people that choose the ai-gen stuff instead.

But the ai-generated art is definitely getting a lot a better - less weird eyes and hands and nightmare fuel. And as the neural networks grow the stuff they generate can get farther and farther away from copying any specific artists style (unless written into the prompt). And giving people that can't draw the ability to generate art and comics is pretty empowering. Like all the people that can write and format a story but could only otherwise draw stick figures.
