That's the logical, desirable path. I'll be waiting for a translation to be sure, but this seems to end in a needlessly inconclusive way and I can't tell if it's to leave it to the reader or if it's leaving the door opening to a sequel, and given this author's track record, let's just say I'll be cautiously optimistic.
