Of the four main characters, only Felix is male playing a female avatar (Fiona). His friend Craig always plays male, and the two girls they encounter (Lisa and Sophie) always play female. In case this helps, the girls are a bit color-coded, Fiona most often wears red, Lisa purple and Sophie green.

The story arc with Jessica (strips 110-131) is more difficult to follow because there's a lot of off-screen speech bubbles, and the secondary characters go by two names depending on whether they are IRL or in stream: Jessica(IRL)/Ruby Jewel(Stream), Tom(IRL)/Sam(Stream), his girlfriend(IRL)/Marcy(Stream), Jessica's friend(IRL)/Ashley(Stream). Of these four secondary characters, all stay in gender except Ashley who is a crossdresser.

By the way, you may have have noticed a change in the appearance of some strips in this comic. The author has changed the way he or she formats horizontal strips with more than 4 panels, using a 2-lines format for those, and has republished all previous strips in that new format. Strips 8 and 9, which were the only 5-panels strips, have been given an additional panel to fit the new format. Besides, the first 42 strips which were published in a 20% lower resolution now use the same resolution as newer strips. So, all strips in the gallery have been re-uploaded. A cover panel was also added.

The author of Being Fiona has reworked the strips in a format more suitable for book publishing. Several panels have been widened, speech bubbles moved around, etc.

The author will keep publishing the latest strips in the regular strip format, which will be posted in this gallery, but will also regularly collect them in issues of this new book format.

Felix uses Jess' Sense Stream implant to pilot Jess' body IRL, as can be seen in image 181 in this gallery.

All newer strips are a flashback to how this came to be. Jess creates custom games so that Felix can improve pretending to be a woman, Felix plays the mermaid, but then wakes up... as a girl. How? That's a mystery that is currently unfolding.
