Page 15: Acchk-tuallllly... :-) graphite, the material pencil leads is made from, is NOT "extremely common" in OUR world, and lack of good enough graphite meant pencils were quite hard to make before the XVII century. The TL;DR of it is that, hilariously, a bunch of graphite pencils WOULD HAVE been a very expensive gift!
