I really wanted to see a relationship between Mariana and Setsuna in Gundam 00 (considering how they felt towards one another).

I think Mitarashi did justice with their relationship or the feeling of relationship they had towards each other.

I don't care if people say that Setsuna and Mariana only had feelings just because they were going for a same goal, you can tell that Mariana had a hint of romance feeling towards Setsuna.

This show and couple is underrated! Great manga. I think that Setsuna can either only love Gundam (haha), or failing that, he can only be with someone who is an idealist like Marina, because he is so broken, and her whole thing is about hope and peace. That's why I thought Feldt didn't work for him; she likes him, but he's never resonated with her in any way. Besides, she is also kinda broken, what with her parents and the whole doe-eyed crush she had on Lockon and the later weirdness with Lyle. I think Feldt's affection is of someone kinda desperate to be loved, (hence why she liked Lockon first and then transferred those feelings to Lyle and then Setsuna) and that's sad she feels so deeply, and is so lonely, but Setsuna can't be that for her. I noticed that some people hate Marina's character because they either liked Feldt better, or because they feel like an idealistic character is kinda useless in the series, but she has a pretty indomitable spirit and keeps trying to better her country peacefully against all odds, which is imo, something worthy. Besides, Marina is just the tropey pacifist character that tends to make an appearance in most Gundams series (like Relena), and Feldt is the lovey-dovey doe-eyed character who is basically there to show her 'rabu' and just pines after dudes. They are both kinda tropey in that way. I still like both, but I think Marina just makes more sense with Setsuna, what with all the symbolism and the over all message of understanding 00 was going for. In every intro they are interacting, so I imagine this was their plan from the start.
