Beetlejuice was never intended to be a dark comedy, instead being a straight up horror flick, where he literally kills someone and tries to rape Lydia. Once the script was bought, it went through several re-writes for what we have today. I like the Beetlejuice we got, but sometimes I wish I could have seen or read the script for the original Beetlejuice.
