2hip's name correction is full of bunk.
The artist simply swaps out one of the kanji in Ranma's name with another kanji.
Ranma's original name consits of 乱馬. Ran(wild) and Ma(horse).
The name the artist swaps it to is 乱魔. Ran(wild) and Ma(demon).
