You can look for french artists in Soleil Editions, most of Arleston's (scenarist) work is worth a look, mostly in his huge universe of Troy. The first series is called Lanfeust de Troy, then you have Lanfeust des Étoiles, Trolls de Troy which is a prequel, and finaly Cixi de Troy.

There are also some spinoffs like Gnomes de Troy, and Encyclopédie du monde de Troy. In the same spirit, one of the most famous artist is called Loisel, with his medieval-fantastic series "La Quête de l'oiseau du temps" -> Quest for the bird of/from time.

Not mentioning the erotica present all around those series.
