Joe, I had said in that /a/ thread that it's Manya and Minea. That's what all of the translations that come from us [Chocolate Scans] will use because that's what the Japanese text says, that's what Pixiv says, that's what the games say. Hell, if we got a doujin with Ash and Misty in it from Pokemon, we'd still translate their names as Satoshi and Kasumi, because that's what the text says. I don't know if you're just refuting what I said or maybe got confused, but I'm gonna try and clear it up here. Even the link you used has マーニャ in the title.

Is that being weeaboistic or is that being faithful to a translation and the original author and not what some game/licensee thought to use over a decade ago? I think the only time we've gone against that is with the Lunar doujins, because we can't find any evidence that Aresu, the katakana, does not directly mean Alex.
