Not sure why this has a gender bender tag since you can clearly pick all females for your party in Dragon Quest 3.

One of the most important reason is because most of the doujin artistes nowadays played this game when they were young, classic is classic, same as EVA, I believe it was out in late 90s, but there are still new doujin based on it.
