Gyaru is basically when the girl looks like...well, the one in this gallery.
They're pretty typical, a little outlandish compared to "traditional" japanese girls, but really no different than those white girls who basically do the same thing
Ganguro, though, has a LOT more make-up and quite a bit more outlandish dress styles.

Ganguro, meanwhile, is relegated to fetish porn and real life. One of the strange examples of something being more common in real life than in fiction. Like fat people, ugly people, and ants.
