Your username contradicts your comment. She's not a spoiled brat for following her heart. This portrays a better love story than 'Twilight', short as it may be. A couple who is forbidden to be together by the 'standards' of society are pushed into a corner, wherein they decide the only way to be together is to die together, as it is stated that running away isn't enough since they were found when they first eloped. The last few pages talk about a hope that they will be reborn in better circumstances, where they can actually live together, undisturbed.

I said this in a previous comment, on 'Believe Machine', where I said that the true form of the 'perfect' match is when your love refuses to live without you, and I know that's 'Romeo and Juliet' but it really does show what true love can and might be. Love, when fully realized, can prove to be a tragic concept.
