@kitsuneko As the name says jpeg artifacts are made just like that, by saving something in jpeg. They're not inherently related to resizing, just lower quality than BMP or PNG or JPG with optimal resolution.
This scan is completely inferior other than for resolution. It has horrible blocky artifacts everywhere, banding, bleed through, and it's over brightened (shading and shadows lost everywhere.)
It's definitely a different scan though. I did an overlay comparison, which makes it easy to tell. It's just sad that this one is visible now and the other one is hidden. Even blown up from x729 to x1600, the old gallery looks better than this one. This one DOES have an extra (plain) back cover though, so really both galleries should stay.
