...well, this seemed like a stupid idea. I am not going to criticize the concept of freediving here (it is obviously something with understandable risks). No, I am going to fault her on going to an unfamiliar area, one that she struggled and exerted herself, without any back up.

There are quite a few things I would have done to avoid all this-
-explore the place with regular scuba gear first. Get to know the area. Have time to react if something blocks your path.
-return to the surface after that first hatch; it took too long and too much effort.
-have a boat- I can't see a nearby shore, so what happens if she surfaces half drowned and unable to swim any more? (this one might be a bad example, there would be beach just outside of view in the cliff scenes, just an extra 100 meters)
-BACK UP. If they are down there with her, they could have joined together to move the wreckage. If they are back on land, then they can panic after 5 minutes and dive to help.
