An alternative scan of this.

I don't want to rain on your parade but what's so good about your version? It's almost five times as large and the grayscaling is more closer to the original cheap magazine release look, the previous version looks as if it was pulled from a tankobon.

Well you are only seeing things from your point of view. All the things you are asking for that would improve the scans are destroying information.

Not destroying information by having a less contrasted version is a pretty basic idea of a better scan.
People can use a less contrasted scan to decensor certain doujins that has those half-transparent censorbars.

Not destroying information by having high resolution is gonna be good when all of us are having 4k monitors. Also it helps anyone that either does a translation or decensor since they will have more information to work with.

Also the final thing is... you can get the version of the doujin you want from our scans (it is easy to contrast and downscale). I cannot get the version i want from the alternative scan. (It is impossible to upscale and uncontrast)

what you say doesn't make sense.

doing a proper scan, with white being white and black being black, keeps more informations than a pale scan where black is gray, and shades goes from gray to white, instead than from black to white as it should be.
in fact you cut off a lot of shade.
this by principle, not discussing about if the other scan of this work is good or bad, by principle if you transform a shade that goes from black to white in something that goes from gray to white, then you are destroying informations.
after scanning a shade that goes from black [0,0,0] to white [255,255,255] you should have 256 levels of gray, in your scans what is a theoretical black is instead a [68,68,68] gray and the same shade has instead 188 levels of gray, 68 grays went into cesspool, 26% of informations about shades has been completely ignored, 1/4 of the pages is destroyed!

who cares if having (a bit) more accurate grays close to white is (a bit) better for editing, destroying so much (1/4 of them!!!) informations and accuracy over all the rest is definitely a idiotic choice.

now there are few cases here:
1) the print on the paper is pale in original, black on the paper is grayish and covers have dead colours, then i could agree you did a fair job;
(but i doubt this since aaall doujinshi you posted have grayish blacks and unsaturated covers, they can't be all printed badly, can they?)
2) your scanner doesn't scan very well, then you should buy another one if you want to keep posting and be appreciated for it;
3) you are not able to set up properly your scanner and the results are shitty, in this case you really should go doing something else, you are not suited for this.

The loss of information you are talking about is only midtones. I'm more concerned about keeping the high and lows as detailed as the midtones, as they are equally important.

We are focused on raw scans so we are trying to keep the scans as unmodified as possible, except from getting them cleaned up.

Im sorry that your brain can't comprehend all the work, time and money we have spent on this, and i'd would like express our sincerest apology that we can't satisfy your wishes, you ungrateful cunt.

you are a liar, what you do is modify (and destroy) the original look of the page you are scanning.
i'm talking about midtones only? they are 1/4 of all informations that your scans don't take from the original source, they are lost! if you say "they are equally important" you should not destroy so much infos, and in order to gain how much? how much where?
what you loose spreads through to whole hue, not only midtones, i'm not talking about midtones only, among the "compressed" shade are included tones close to black and close to white! you don't realise that!?
how can you try to convince ppl that that would be high quality?
(and working on grayish drawing lines is a huge pain in the @ss, i can say that by experience, can't figure how editors preffer to work on gray... if they do)

i thank you only because once in a while you post scans from some doujinshi can't be found elsewhere, other than that, your work is shitty and i will always say so, in fact, if there is an alternative i never take your scans, uselessly big, huge colour/gray scale loss, only those 2mb 20 pages scans are worse than yours.
