2) go to batch conversion
3) play around with the png settings (how many colors there are) until you see a massive degradation in quality.

there is no difference between page 2 256 and normal quality wise, but size, its about 1/3
page 2 256 and 16 also have next to no quality difference, but the size is even smaller,
once that's established, save one as 2 4 and 8, you usually won't get 2 or 4 to work unless you have gods gift to scans, but these give you a decent base line to see how much you can get away with, 8 usually looks exactly like 16, sometimes the shadows are a bit lighter if the scan wasn't good, this one can be taken down to 6 colors without much noticeable difference between 6 and normal page 2, but the file size is about 450kb opposed to around 3mb.

second, do not save the cover as a png, you are better off saving it in photoshop as 8 or in irfanview as 80 as it gives damn near no quality difference, but the size is cut by 90%

hope this helps and you do this in future releases, its so much nicer to have a 11mb file than a 90 when the quality difference is almost not measurable.
