The admiral is a little... broken ... given how he was traumatized in the war and showing quiet a bit of bravado to cover that up. (He was the one making sociopathic statements on the first page of ZERO)
Tatsuta is a lot broken given she's a drop ship who didn't completely forget the abyss, with its fair burden of broken psyche, schizophrenia, and insecurity.

Truly a match made in heaven.

All in all, this felt fairly complete, starting with a slice of life comedy that had fairly ham-fisted but effective characterization. The abyssal hallucinations weren't really present in previous issues and feels a little out of left field but it's forgivable.

Looking forward to his next work.

The abyssal hallucination first appeared in the Kaishu max one. Though it appeared in like two pages, maybe one can guess as to what it is and what it means to Tatsuta by reading it? I've yet to typeset nor have I gone through reading the translations though but I do plan on doing both so.

In short: It is possible for two people to establish a shared word, such as "red", and then reach a common understanding regarding its meaning, by saying "red" and pointing to the sky at dawn, a ripe tomato, a fire truck, and so forth. However, it is not possible for them to verify whether their mutual perceptions of "red" are identical, or even if the other truly has a perception at all (a P-Zombie). This ties back to the end of the first work in this series, when Tatsuta didn't realize she was covered in blood.

It's meant to express Tatsuta's self-image that she is a mere machine, and one which (she suspects) has been corrupted. This kind of thinking is familiar to someone who has struggled with depression.
