Some classics are fore ever and some despite their great success while they where out, they got lost.
Inuyasha hardly had 2 very short continuations that didn't see any success so they stopped trying to make new staff out of it and it soon became history :(
Also the fact that the main female protagonist was not as hot as other girls from the series never helped the hentai part of the story.

What other girls? There are like only two other recurring female characters (unless you also counted Kikyo, but she looks the same as Kagome) and one of them only appeared for the first half of the series.
