No that looks like the crown Kindle wore as a kid. You see it on him in the glass shattering scene on page 46. Seems like it was implying that he wore the crown a lot as a kid. Probably wanted to be like his dad (the king) and his dad was constantly angry because of it. Probably a tyrant and saw Kindle as a threat. Growing up with the idea of being a king.
