The real problem that plague all genre of hentai is the overuse of the same endings, scenario, cliches ect.

No matter what the genre is, a doujin series/artist will always go down in popularity because said artist can never do something original.

Take for example tamagoro (known as funi funi lab). Half of their works are vanilla ish while the other go to other genre. However pretty much all of the doujins from that group are praised no matter what the genre because they are that good.

Then as the opposite theres that naruho artist that always does the same shit over and over which resulted in tanking in popularity.

TL:DR : Doing the same mistakes over and over apply to all genres.

I think Kironasake has it right, it's all up to the individual artist to bring out charm, sexniness or what have you from their work.
