What's wrong with his writing? I have noticed people feel uncomfortable with the subject they take as they can be kind of grim. Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it is bad writing, it just means you should be willing to accept things different from the usual tropes catalog.

No, I enjoyed it. The first time he wrote. And then the next time, and then I saw him do it over and over again and now I'm just internally sighing and hoping he gets some new material. It was subversive and interesting once and now it's so very tired. He's just an edgy boy with art supplies and it shows.

They are youkai, I wouldn't describe anything that happens as edgy since this is more likely what would happen in ZUN's Gensokyo. Canon youkai in Touhou are senseless creatures with no feeling towards humans, they only become interested in very exceptional individuals like Reimu or Marisa.

I have to agree though, that this author uses shock value as a way to keep people interested and it slowly becomes less and less impactful since you know something like that is coming.

I can't help but feel like this doujin's Shou clashes with Zounose's earlier depiction in Hungry Tiger, where Shou very much has a beast within her. I like how well these two play off one another, so I'll let it slide.

always love this author doujinshi, he likes to shock people with grim endings, but the unexpected relations, the understanding that "yokai" are not human and that what they think is "good" and what is "bad" change, humans are not yokai as much as a yokai is not a human, even Shou could not stop from eating and she is a "monk yokai", this mangaka always bring a different perspective to the normal "human good ending", is not a good ending for the humans, but to yokai is "as good as it can get", after all, is gensokyo, is a mini garden made for yokais by a yokai, if you change it a bit, you could say humans are cattle rise for the yokai to feed, that's all gensokyo is, not a "cow farm" but a "human farm", interesting to see how we could possible become very close to cattle when a stronger and intelligent specie appears that also feeds on us.
