Basically from what I can gather: The father died at some point. The mother was seeing someone, likely for financial support of some kind or worse. The uncle is suspected of being a murderer of a young girl and the young girl happens to be the sister of the girl they set up with their friend. This could all be connected since it isn't said how the mother died. The uncle either is being framed narratively by the real killer or had a hand in the deaths of their parents. Hard to say.

Now, how that ties into the friend randomly finding the siblings and giving them shelter? That I don't know. It could be coincidence (I doubt it given how tied up everything is) but my suspicion is he's the son of the man the mother was seeing who was giving her financial support. That would explain him living alone for ten years with no evidence of a job.

It's also somewhat implied that the sister has feelings for her brother a few times and that the brother has pieced together a lot of things. He's not in the least surprised when she calls the dead child oneechan.

Fuuga stories are complicated and don't always resolve well narratively but I don't think Fuuga's made a story with a "Bad End".
