On page 48, "blood work" is actually correct. It's medical jargon referring to the analysis of a blood sample, and also the compiled results of that analysis. It's quite similar in usage to the more commonly known word "homework".
It's not enough to speak a language, you also need some education regarding the topic you're working on. Lacking that, typing "[term] meaning" into a search engine of your choice can also help to check if a term is proper jargon you just didn't know.
