Feels like a lot of retcon going on here, especially since parts of this are contradictory to the first part (explicitly so) - makes me think he got too wrapped up in the vanilla for part 1 (e.g. here the husband is shown as being constantly tired and puny, but in p1 he's explicitly shown to be proactive in soliciting his wife and they go at it all night) and had to try and rerail it for his core audience.
