@DJ_Puchuu Because for whatever dumb reason, translators legit get demotivated to work on translating a work if it's already been translated, regardless of whether it's a good translation or a bad one. You'd figure seeing these MTL mother fuckers would convince them something is terribly wrong, but nah, their pride's on the line or some bullshit, lol.

Retconner: I can understand if someone beat me to the punch with a translation of an anticipated work, but being demotivated because of MTL/AI translations makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. Speaking purely for myself, if someone beat me to the punch with a translation of X, I'd still release mine and let the community decide for themselves. But, as I said, that's me and me alone.

There are many untranslated works. If you were a translator - or in a TL group - would you work on something that has already been translated? That's the thing. Most groups will check if there's a translation. They won't care about the translation itself. Again: There are many other untranslated works. Can't translate them all. Hence they'll move on to the next project. Considering that a proper translation and proper editing / typesetting take a lot of time, they don't want to waste it on something that is already translated. Even less if some people are already happy about it.

Just some questions: When you go to a random place, do you like to trash it? And if someone were to go to your place and trash it, would you be happy about it? If "no" is your answer, why? After all, by your own words, you shouldn't be complaining and doing nothing, right? You could clean the place after all.
