I've uploaded cropped version of comic mugen few weeks ago. Quickly fjorded by bunch of Chineses. I won't even bother now.

It was not expunged by the Chinese. Mods would bring it back if they did.
The problem was when you cropped the pictures, they were filled with artifacts in the end. You likely saved them as jpeg and it ruined the pictures. I'm actually surprised you had the balls to crop those many images. That's a lot of work.

EDIT:
When you save images that you crop into jpeg, you tend to produce artifacts on images. If you look closely enough, you tend to see random pixels messing up images. This makes it harder for scanlators to work with. That said, if you think the difference is not as noticeable, you could ask the mods about it. But chances are, unless you find a way to crop without causing artifacts, they'd let these things get expunged.

The expunge feature apparently cannot be abused. If they keep on doing that to galleries that aren't covered with artifacts, they'll run into trouble with the mods instead.

If what Nanaya2007 says is true, you could use lossless jpeg cropping instead, eg. with IrfanView and its jpg transform plugin.
